1. Throned upon the aw-ul tree,

십자가에 달리신
King of grief, I watch with Tree.
고난의 주 봅니다
Dark-ness veils Thine anguished face:
어둔 그늘 덮여도
None its lines of woe can trace:
우리 위해 참으신
None can tell what pangs unknown
그 당하신 고통을
Hold Thee silent and alone.
어느 누가 알리요

2. Silent through those three dread hours,

고통스런 긴 시간
Wrestling with the evil powers,
인류의 죄 지시고
Left alone with human sin,
하나님이 어린양
Gloom around Thee and within,
죽으시기 까지도
Till th' appointed time is nigh,
악의 힘과 싸우며
Till the Lamb of God may die.
홀로 견디셨도다

3. Hark, that cry that peals aloud

아버지여 어찌해
Upward through the whelming cloud!
날 버리시나이까
Thou, the Father's only Son,
하늘 향해 외치고
Thou, His own anointed one,
돌아가신 구주는
Thou dost ask Him can it be
하나님의 외아들
'Why hast Thou forsaken Me
대속하신 주로다

4. Lord, should fear and anguish roll

주는 죄가 없어도
Darkly O'er my sinful soul,
만민 구원하시려
Thou, Who once wast thus bereft,
고통 당하셨으니
That Thine own might ne'er be left,
주여 심한 고통이
Teach me by that bitter cry
나의 영혼 덮을 때
In the gloom to know Thee nigh. Amen.
