From tender stem hath sprung!
새싹이 돋아나
Of Jesse's lineage coming
옛 선지 노래대로
As men of old have sung.
장미꽃 피었다
It came, a floweret bright, Amid the cold of winter,
한 추운 겨울 밤 주 탄생하신 이 날
When half spent was the night.
거룩한 날이여

2. Isaiah 't was foretold it, The Rose I have in mind,

이사야 예언 대로 어리신 우리 주
With Mary we behold it, The Virgin Mother kind.
동정녀 마리아의 몸 빌려 나셨다
To show God's love aright, She bore to men a Saviour,
탄생한 아기는 영원한 구세주라
When half spent was the night.

3. This flower, whose fragrance tender

그 부드러운 향기
With sweetness fills the air,

Dis-pels with glorious splen-dor
