Matthew 10:34~42 (마태복음 10:34~42)

34 'Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword

34 내가 세상에 화평을 주러 온 줄로 생각지 말라 화평이 아니요 검을 주러 왔노라

I did not ~ but a sword : not A but B (A가 아니라 B이다)

35 For I have come to turn "'a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law

35 내가 온 것은 사람이 그 아비와, 딸이 어미와, 며느리가 시어미와 불화하게 하려 함이니

turn ~ against somebody ~ : ~와 적대(대적)하게 하다. ~에게서 돌아서게 하다  

36 a man's enemies will be the members of his own household.'

36 사람의 원수가 자기 집안 식구라

37 " Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me;

37 아비나 어미를 나보다 더 사랑하는 자는 내게 합당치 아니하고 아들이나 딸을 나보다 더 사랑하는 자도 내게 합당치 아니하고

not worthy of me : 나에게 합당하지 않다 ( be worthy of ~ : ~하기에 족하다, 어울리다, ~의 가치가 있다) 

38 and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.

38 또 자기 십자가를 지고 나를 좇지 않는 자도 내게 합당치 아니하니라

39 Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

39 자기 목숨을 얻는 자는 잃을 것이요 나를 위하여 자기 목숨을 잃는 자는 얻으리라

40 " He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives one who sent me. 

40 너희를 영접하는 자는 나를 영접하는 것이요 나를 영접하는 자는 나 보내신 이를 영접하는 것이니라

41 Anyone who receives a prophet because he is a prophet wll receive a prophet's reward,

and anyone who receives a righteous man because he he is a righteous man will receives a righreous man's reward.

41 선지자의 이름으로 선지자를 영접하는 자는 선지자의 상을 받을 것이요

의인의 이름으로 의인을 영접하는 자는 의인의 상을 받을 것이요 

Anyone who receives a prophet because he is a prophet : 그가 선지자라는 이유로 선지자를 영접하는 사람은 누구든지 (any는 긍정문에서 '어떤 ~라도')

42 And if anyone gives a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my desciple,

I tell you the truth, he certainly not lose his reward.

42 또 누구든지 제자의 이름으로 이 소자 중 하나에게 냉수 한 그릇이라도 주는 자는

내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 그 사람이 결단코 상을 잃지 아니하리라 하시니라
