Matthew 10:16~23 (마태복음 10:16~23)  

16 I am sending you out like sheep among wolves.

Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and innocent as doves.

16 보라 내가 너희를 보냄이 양을 이리 가운데 보냄과 같도다

그러므로 너희는 뱀 같이 지혜롭고 비둘기같이 순결하라

shrewd : 영리한, 빈틈없는

innocent : 죄없는 순수한

as shrew as snakes : 뱀과 같이 영리한 (as+형용사나 부사의 원급+as는 '~만큼 ~한'의 의미)

17 "Be on your guard against men; they will hand you over to the local councils and flog you in their synagogue.

17 사람들을 삼가라 저희가 너희를 공회에 넘겨주겠고 저희 회당에서 채찍질하리라

be on guard against~는 '~에 대하여 경계하다'

hand over는 '~에게 넘겨주다'의 의미

flog : 매질(채찍질)하다

18 on my account you will be brought before governors and kings

as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles.

18 또 너희가 나를 위하여 총독들과 임금들 앞에 끌려가리니

이는 저희와 이방인들에게 증거가 되게 하려 하심이라

on one's account: ~때문에 (account=이유,설명)

19 But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say,

19 너희를 넘겨 줄 때에 어떻게 또는 무엇을 말할까 염려치 말라 그때에 무슨 말할 것을 주시리니

20 for it will not be you speeking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

20 말하는 이는 너희가 아니라 너희 속에서 말씀하시는 자 곧 너희 아버지의 성령이시니라

21 "Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; chidren will rebel against their parents and have them put to death.

21 장차 형제가 형제를, 아비가 자식을 죽는데 내어 주며 자식들이 부모를 대적하여 죽게 하리라

betray : 저버리다, 배신하다

rebel : 반역하다

a father his child는 a father (will betray) his child의 의미(중복동사 생략)

children~have them put to death : '아이들이 그들을 (부모를) 죽게 할 것이다'이며 have는 사역동사, put to death는 .죽게하다'를 뜻함

22 All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end wii be saved. 

22 또 너희가 내 이름을 인하여 모든 사람에게 미움을 받을 것이나 나중까지 견디는 자는 구원을 얻으리라

because of + 명사구는 '~때문에"

syands firm to the end는 '끝까지 굳게 서다'의 뜻

23 When you are presecuted in one place, flee to another.

I tell you the truth, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

23 이 동네에서 너희를 핍박하거든 저 동네로 피하라

내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 이스라엘의 모든 동네를 다 다니지 못하여서 인자가 오리라

presecute 박해하다
