Matthew 12:9~21 (마태복음 12:9~21)

9 Going on from that place, he went into their synagogue, 

9 거기를 떠나 저희 회당에 들어가시니

10 and a man with a shriveled hand was there. Looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, they asked him, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?" 

10 한편 손 마른 사람이 있는지라 사람들이 예수를 송사하려 하여 물어 가로되 안식일에 병 고치는 것이 옳으니이까

shrivel : 시들게하다

Looking for a reason to accuse Jesus는 '예수님을 고소할 이유를 찾으면서' (분사구문)

Is it lawful to heal 이하 : It는 가주어, to 이하는 진주어 

11 He said to them, If anyone of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out?"

11 예수께서 가라사대 양 한 마리가 있어 안식일에 구덩이에 빠졌으면 붙잡아 내지 않겠느냐

pit : 구덩이, 싸우게 하다

12 How much more valuabie is a man than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath." 

12 사람이 양보다 얼마나 더 귀하냐 그러므로 안식일에 선을 행하는 것이 옳으니라 하시고

13 Then he said to the man, 'Stretched out and your hand." So he stretched it out and it was completely restored, just as sound as the other. 

13 이에 그 사람에게 이르시되 손을 내밀라 하시니 저가 내밀매 다른 손과 같이 회복되어 성하더라

stretch : 뻗다 

just as sound as the other (hand was) : '나머지 손이 건강한 것과 똑같이'의 뜻

as ~as :  ~만큼 ~한

14 But the Pharisees went out and and plotted how they might kill Jesus.

14 바리새인들이 나가서 어떻게 하여 예수를 죽일꼬 의논하거늘

plot : 음모(를 꾸미다)

15 Aware of this, Jesus withdrew from that place. Many followed him, and he healed all the sick, 

15 예수께서 아시고 거기를 떠나가시니 사람이 많이 좇는지라 예수께서 저희 병을 다 고치시고

Aware of this : 분사구문(이유)으로 Because Jesus was aware of this의 의미 (be aware of : ~을 깨닫다)

withdraw : 물러나다, 철수하다

16 warning them not to tell who he was.

16 자기를 나타내지 말라 경계하셨으니

warning ~ he was는 분사구문(부대상황)

warn+목적어+not to+동사원형은 '~하지 말라고 경고하다"

17 This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:

17 이는 선지자 이사야로 말씀하신바

18 "Here is my servant whom I have chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations. 

18 보라 나의 택한 종 곧 내 마음에 기뻐하는 바 나의 사랑하는 자로다 내가 내 성령을 줄 터이니 그가 심판을 이방에 알게 하리라

(the one) in whom I delight : 내가 기뻐하는 자 (delight in : 즐거워하다, 기뻐하다)

19 He will not quarrel or cry out; not one will hear his voice in the streets. 

19 그가 다투지도 아니하며 들레지도 아니하리니 아무도 길에서 그 소리르 듣지 못하리라

20 A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out, till he leads justice to victory.

20 상한 갈대를 꺽지 아니하며 꺼져가는 심지를 끄지 아니하기를 심판하여 이길 때까지 하리니

bruised : 상처입은

reed : 갈대

smolder : 연기나다

wick : (초, 남포 등의) 심지

snuff off: 끄다

A bruised reed he will ~ and a smoldering ~ snuff out : He wil not break a bruised reed and he will not snuff out a smoldering wick에 대한 '목적어+주어+동사' 어순의 도치구문

21 In his name the nations will put their hope."

21 또한 이방들이 그 이름을 바라리라 함을 이루려 하심이니라
