Matthew 12:1~8 (마태복음 12:1~8)

1 At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick some heads of grain and eat them.

1 그 때에 예수께서 안식일에 밀밭 사이로 가실쌔 제자들이 시장하여 이삭을 잘라먹으니

at that time은 '그 때의' 의미

some heads of grain : head는 '풀, 나무 등의 이삭', '꼭대기'의 의미 

Sabbath : 안식일

2 When Pharisees saw this, they said to him. "Look! Your disciples are doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath."

2 바리새인들이 보고 예수께 고하되 보시오 당신의 제자들이 안식일에 하지 못할 일을 하나이다

3 He answered, "Haven't you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry? 

3 예수꼐서 가라사대 다윗이 자기와그 함께한 자들이 시장할 때에 한 일을 읽지 못하였느냐

4 He entered house of God, and he and his companions ate the consecrated bread-which was not lawful for them to do, but only for the priests.

4 그가 하나님의 전에 들어가서 제사장 외에는 자기나 그 함께한 자들이 먹지 못하는 진설병을 먹지 아니하였느냐

which was not lawful for them to do, but (was lawful) only for the priests : which는 앞에서 서술한 다윗 왕의 행동을 받는 관계대명사

consecrate : 봉헌하다, 바치다

5 Or haven't you read in the Law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple descrate the day and yet are innocent?

5 또 안식일에 제사장들이 성전 안에서 안식을 범하여도 죄가 없음을 너희가 율법에서 읽지 못하였느냐

descrate : (신성을) 모독하다

innocent : 무죄

yet : 그럼에도 불구하고

6 I tell you that one greater than the temple is here.

6 내가 너희에게 이르노니 성전보다 더 큰 이가 여기 있느니라

one greater than the temple : 성전보다 더 위대한 사람 (greater 이하가 one을 수식함)

7 If you had known what these words mean, 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice, you would not have condemned the innocent.

7 나는 자비를 원하고 제사를 원치 아니하노라 하신 뜻을 너희가 알았더면 무죄한 자를 죄로 정치 아니하였으리라

8 Fot the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."

8 인자는 안식일의 주인이니라 하시니라
