Matthew 8:5~13 (마태복음 8:5~13)

5 When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help.

5 예수께서 가버나움에 들어가시니 한 백부장이 나아와 간구하여

6 'Lord," he said, "my servant lies at home paralyzed and in terrible suffering."

6 가로되 주여 내 하인이 중풍병으로 집에 누워 몹시 괴로와하나이다

paralyzed 마비된, 중풍걸린

7 Jesus said to him "I will go and  heal him."

7 가라사대 내가 가서 고쳐 주리라

8 The centurion replied , " Lord I do not deserve to have you come under my roof.

But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.

8 백부장이 대답하여 가로되 주여 내 집에 들어오심을 나는 감당치 못하겠사오니

다만 말씀으로만 하옵소서 그러면 내 하인이 낫겠삽나이다

deserve 받을 자격이 있다

9 For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, "Go", and he goes;

and that one, "Come", and he comes. I say to my servant, "Do this", and he does it." 

9 나도 남의 수하에 있는 사람이요 내 아래도 군사가 잇으니 이더러 가라 하면 가고

저더러 오라 하면 오고 내 종더러 이것을 하라 하면 하나이다

10 When Jesus heard this, he was astonished and said to those following him,

" I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.

10 예수께서 들으시고 기이히 여겨 좇는 자들에게 이르시되 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니

이스라엘 중 아무에게서도 이만한 믿음을 만나보지 못하였노라

astonished 깜짝 놀란, 놀란

11 I say to you that many will come from the east and the west,

and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.

11 또 너희에게 이르노니 동서로부터 많은 사람이 이르러 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱과 함께 천국에 앉으려니와

feast 축제, 진수성찬, 즐기다, 먹다

12 But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness,

where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

12 나라의 본 자손들은 바깥 어두운 데 쫓겨나 거기서 울며 이를 갊이 있으리라

into the darkness, where there will be weeping ~ : into the darkness and there (in the darkness) will be weeping~ 의 의미

13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go! It will be done just as you believed it would."

And his servant was healed at the very hour.

13 예수께서 백부장에게 이르시되 가라 네 믿은대로 될찌어다 하시니 그 시로 하인이 나으니라

It will be done just as you believed it would 그 일은 네가 그렇게 되리라고 믿었던 대로 이루어질 것이다 (just as는 '~과 똑같이'의 의미이며 would 다음에는 be done이 생략되었음

at the very hour 바로 그 시각에
